Design, to me, is a human-centred practice, so when I work on a project, whether static or in motion, I try to make it feel alive. I want my work to be dynamic and allow viewers to feel that they are able to connect with it in a distinct way.

I always aim to implement some kind of “wow factor” into my work that makes it stand out from the rest.

Motion Graphics is a big part of my brand identity, and my logo should reflect that. Animation and sound are an important element when it comes to making your brand feel more “alive”, and so they were vital to my personal branding.

My Old Branding
My old branding was one that I no longer connected with. The colours, the typeface, and the logo didn’t feel like they represented me as a person or a designer anymore. I wanted to take what worked about this old branding, like the smiling logo, and try to evolve it to something that felt more relevant to the current me.

Before creating my logo, I did some research into existing brandmarks that could act as inspiration for my new logo. Most of these were from the book “Logo Modernism”.

I then vectorized my favorite ideas from this sketch. My goal was to blend my initials “AS” with a smiling face. This experimentation eventually lead to my final brandmark.

I also experimented with different typefaces and placement of these typefaces to come up with the final logo. The typeface I chose was “Freundschaft” by Lineto.
