What is "ergo sum"?
“ergo sum” is an app designed to help people make more socially conscious purchases. The UI and branding of the app employs the use of “culture jamming” to inform users of the unethical practices of large companies. It also provides alternatives to those unethical companies.

Branding
The goal of the brand identity for ergo sum is to be unique, while still being able to blend into the background. This makes the use of culture jamming more effective.
The brand identity of the company being jammed is the main focus so the user can associate the unethical actions of the company with it’s specific brand.

Project Development
Research Essay
This project was based on months of research into the relationship between design, branding and capitalism.

Rejected Logos
"Eat the Rich" Collage Mini-Zine
During the development of this project I created a experimental mini-zien by cutting up magazines and creating collages form them. The final product was quite different from this style.

Mind Map
One of the first thing I did when I first received the brief was to make a mind map of all the possible directions I could go with for my final major project.

Initial Ideas
Once I locked down the idea I wanted to pursue, I did some research into what relevant projects already existed that I could use for inspiration. One of the ideas I came up with were creating the branding for a movement (similar to the BLM movement).

Research
Along with the research I did online, I also read books relating to the impact of branding and advertising on modern society. Some of the most relevant books were “No Logo” by Naomi Klein and “Practices of Looking” by Lisa Cartwright & Marita Sturken.
